You are considered guilty of hit and run if you are involved in an accident and do not remain at the scene until you have exchanged information with the other driver if it is a minor incident. If there is extensive damage to property or injuries involved, you are to remain at the scene until emergency vehicles arrive. This infraction is also known as failure to perform the duties of a driver and carries with it increased costs of car insurance premiums in the major category.
